Feedback from several people indicated that a word in an earlier blog wasn’t understood. By way of help, I here give you the words from a song we heard on the radio many years ago.
Way out west, they got a name
For rain and wind and fire
The rain is Tess, the fire's joe and
They call the wind Mariah.
Just a day after we took the picture of the streetlights that had been “chewed by the G.C. dinosaur” we saw the utility vehicle out there replacing the plastic backings of the ones that had been “chewed.”
Since then we have seen those plastic pieces vibrating wildly in the wind. Clearly it was Mariah that broke off the corners of the street lights, and from the vibrations we’ve already seen, we suspect they will have to replace them again sometime soon.
Today, the word on NOAA weather for this part of Kansas was "Wind advisory", meaning winds were expected up to about 40 mph. As we were going to one of our meetings tonight the air was filled with dust. We also drove over a wet spot on the road, but the lawn next to the road was still dry.
