A New Granddaughter!

What an exciting phone call we received from Dan Felt to tell us that his wife, our daughter Karen Lenore Felt, delivered a healthy baby girl on Saturday, February 11, 2012. They decided to name her Miriam Lenore Felt. Miriam arrived about 20 days early and surprised everyone when she decided she wanted out! She was born at 5:36 p.m. weighing 6 lbs 15 oz and she was 19 inches long, a good sized baby! They also say she has blue eyes and it looks like red hair. What a beautiful little girl. Her brother Isaac also has red hair and we are sure he is happy to know his baby sister has red hair like him.

It was a God-send that their Grandmother Charleen Felt was able to come help out with the family. Being only two or so hours away, she was able to come quickly when Karen's amniotic fluid bag broke, signaling that the baby was coming. It only took six hours for the birth, but thankfully, Grandma Felt was already there when Miriam arrived. Sister Howlett really appreciates Charleen being able to come and help in her place.

How happy we are to add her to our wonderful list of special grandchildren of the Grant and Pat Howlett family. Miriam makes 31 grandchildren now for our family and one foster granddaughter, John and Emma Oberting's niece, Chloe Oberting. So we have a terrific start to a great posterity and everyone is very special. Thanks, Miriam, for being a precious part of our family. We are privileged to have you join us.

Elder Howlett is helping to tie the quilt for baby Miriam.

As usual Grandma and Grandpa Howlett always tie a baby quilt for each new grandchild. So we found some pretty cloth and spent a few days getting it all put together and finished. After borrowing a sewing machine from Janelle Waters, one of the sisters in the Garden City Kansas ward, Sister Howlett was able to finish the binding of the quilt.

Then with a few extras put in the box, the package was sent off to Miriam and her family. It was a fun project to complete for our newest grandchild. Inspite of the busy missionary schedule, we found time to complete this joyous work of love.
