Spring Has Come to Garden City, also Another Baptism and A Wedding

Green and spring colors have begun showing up all over the place here.

Colorful Tulips and green grass are coming back.

It is beautiful to see the Daffodils, Tulips and other spring flowers coming up with blossoms on the trees and green grass showing up again. Gentle rains are feeding the vegetation, giving a lot of vivid colors to our area. However, there are still places where there is brown, but soon those places may be showing green, too.

To the right is a picture of a windmill in dry winter fields.

It is the awakening of the earth’s verdant and colorful flora, showing the resurrection of new life. The world is coming alive with color, which we are sure is evident in all other parts of the world.

To the left is the beautiful yard of one of our families we home teach, David and Dawni Lunzmann.

How appropriate to happen at Easter time, when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is a promise that all of us will come alive again.
How grateful we are for His great sacrifice and resurrection!!

Our Resurrected Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ

On 3 April 2011, we had a special baptism between the two Sunday sessions of General Conference. Emma Curnette, a sweet new sister in our ward was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was excited to become a member, having been taught by two special young missionaries, Elder Viehwig and Elder Lyman. The next week she was confirmed a member of the church and received the Holy Ghost.

At left is the picture taken before the baptism, from left to right: Elder Lyman, Emma Curnette (who was baptized) David Lutz (a member of the Garden City Ward,, who baptized Emma), Elder Viehwig.

What a blessing to this special lady who has raised several children, lived a busy life and used to be an Over-the-Road truck driver with her husband, who has now passed on. It is fun to get to know her, and now we are working with her to prepare her Family History so she can help her ancestors too.

Friday, 8 April 2011 was a terrific day with a Mexican wedding at our church that night. Two new converts, Sahara (pronounced “Saara” in Spanish) Hernandez and Markus Newport were married by our bishop, Kaleb Kentner.

They were so happy and looked so much in love. Sahara and Markus met in the Young Single Adult (YSA) group in our ward and enjoyed getting to know each other, then love blosssomed. Markus, in a testimony he gave one Fast meeting before his wedding, said how much he was grateful to the Lord to lead him to the truth and to also help him find his beautiful fiancé.

They have decided not to go on their honeymoon right now, but plan to have it next year when they go to the Temple to be sealed for all time and eternity. We are humbled by their sincerity and faith.

So the work carries on in Garden City, Kansas, and we are grateful to be a part of it.

Our family is also grateful for the this time of rebirth and the multiple symbols of resurrection that come at this time. Our weather is so very similar to yours and we are loving the sun and the green coming up. We have crocuses that are blooming and daffodil leaves are out. The blooms are coming soon and we are so excited for it! Wonderful time! :)
